Why My High School Isn't in My Facebook Profile

My high school alma mater is Beverly Hills Christian School of Dallas, Texas. I've been trying since I subscribed to Facebook to include BHCS in my education profile. Why is this a problem? Because it isn't in the drop down list for schools in Dallas, Texas.

This weekend, I finally received replies from the Facebook staff. They told me that the reason my requests have been ignored is because BHCS is not a currently open school. It closed in 1986, one year after I graduated.

So, I can't include BHCS because Facebook won't list it as a Dallas school, even a past one, and I can't even manually enter it into my own profile.

Go figure.

Pre-Memorial Day in East Texas

I normally discourage starting off a weekend by waking up at 6am. Unfortunately, we didn't have much choice today. Roxanne and I went down to Oakwood, Texas for a Richmond family memorial day gathering, and we had to be on the road by 8 a.m. at the very latest in order to get there by 10 a.m. To make getting up at 6 a.m. even more fun, I didn't get into bed until almost midnight the night before.

We did get there on time (*yawn*). Afterward, we drove over to Buffalo and put new flowers for the Kirkpatrick family plot. Amazingly, we got home to Richardson a little after 5 p.m.

Catching Up

My contract at Fujitsu ended last Friday after 13 months. I hope to find something else soon.

Earlier this month, Roxanne and I visited her parents who now live in the D.C. area. While we were there, we went to the new National Air and Space Museum annex near Dulles International Airport, the World War II memorial and the National Zoo. I took several hundred pictures, over 140 at the National Air and Space Museum alone.

Well, I still have a job!

Things were a little tense at work today. It seems the department has been ordered to reduce headcount by one contractor. Fortunately, it seems there has been a one month reprieve. After that, though, I don't know what will happen.

What do I hear? Nothing but the rain!

Well, we needed rain, but I never imagined that ICF would be cancelled over it. Wouldn't you know it? I spent a couple of weeks preparing to give the presentation tonight. I hope to be able to give it later. Otherwise, I spent a lot of time on it for nothing.

Handel's Messiah

When Roxanne's parents moved to Virginia several months ago, they gave us their season tickets to the Dallas Opera and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Last night, the DSO performed Handel's Messiah. I don't believe I've ever seen it in it's entirety before.

The most remarkable thing to me is that it is entirely based on Scripture, running from the birth of Christ to the eternal reign. In the comments in the program, the writer noted that most people associate Messiah with the Christmas season, but it is in fact far more appropriate to Easter.
